Summary: Public Allies Delaware is a paid apprenticeship program that places Allies at local nonprofits where they create, improve, and expand services that address a variety of issues; that include youth development, education, public health, community and economic development and the environment. 

In addition, Allies will work with other Allies and community members to create and implement sustainable community-led team service projects using an asset-based approach. Allies will also participate in weekly trainings with local community and civic leaders on topics such as public speaking, conflict resolution, logic models, diversity, strategic planning, leadership development, and media literacy.

We are recruiting Allies to begin service 10/1 and 10/15 for our second and third cohort. Afterwards we will begin recruiting year round for the Class of 2021. You can apply at: http://apply.publicallies.org

For participants that we are recruiting currently the program runs from October - July and participants will be require to complete 1,700 hours of service and earn living stipend of 15,000 that is spread out throughout the 10 apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of service you can receive a 5,815 Educational Award that you could use toward paying back specific federally backed loans or used toward your future education.

Requirements: There are three basic requirement that participants must meet to apply to the program, participants must have:

  • High School Diploma

  • Be a U.S. Citizen

  • Be 17 years or older
